Mr. McCann was a member of the New York City Police Department for over twenty-seven years.  His various assignments included the 8th Homicide Squad, Bronx District Attorney’s Office Squad, and in particular, the Major Case Squad where he was instrumental in the recovery of millions of dollars worth of stolen art and jewelry. He personally was involved in over 200 investigations of kidnapping for ransom.  As a result of his assignments with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. McCann was sworn in as a deputy U.S. Marshal. He was one of the original members of the Hostage Negotiating Team, and actively practiced as a negotiator for over twenty years. He was the recipient of numerous awards and was honored in December 2008 for his outstanding contribution to INTERPOL, Central Bureau United States. He served as a member of the Museum, Library and Archive Committee for The American Society of Industrial Security.  He was a member of the International Policy Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police from 1992 to 1995, from 1996-2003 served on the I.A.C.P. Arson and Explosives Committee and was appointed to the Private Sector Liaison Committee in 2004 where he continues to serve. He is a past President and Chairman of the Board of the National Law Enforcement Association, and is a past President and Chairman of the Board of The Retired Detectives of the Police Department of the City of New York. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Professional Law Enforcement in June of 2007.  In the private sector, Mr. McCann was the Director of Security for the Andy Warhol Estate and has provided security services for major international events, such as the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Times News Tour 1995, the Papal visit to New York City 1995, the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, and the 2004 Athens Olympics.
